Activity for Reformation of Basic Needs, or ARBAN
Started working for the socio-economic development of marginalized communities in 2002. We started our first project in central Bangladesh, in Netrokona district, but have since then spread our wings across Bangladesh.
We have remained true to our origins, our spiritual home in the north-western part of greater Mymensingh region. Netrokona district is surrounded by both hills and low-lying wetlands, furnished with scenic natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
ARBAN has aimed to develop the community with motivation and skill so that they can find ways to come out of the vicious circle of poverty and ensure a sustainable livelihood. To achieve Its objective, ARBAN especially emphasized on developing the skill of the local youth in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). In short, ARBAN is contributing to the process of building a knowledge-based future society at the grassroots of Bangladesh.
We focus on youth and women and build their capacity as agents of change with an emphasis on sustainable livelihoods.
ARBAN envisages an educated Bangladesh with a democratic society which is free from poverty and exploitation with equal rights and respect for all in an equitable, justifiable and healthy environment.
ARBAN is committed to the comprehensive development of deprived, underprivileged and marginalized people (especially women, children, disabled and indigenous ethnic communities) towards establishing a society with respect and a culture of democracy, liberty, equality, justice, peace and solidarity by implementing service delivery and rights-based activities through a participatory and multidimensional partnership approach.
