Activity for Reformation of Basic Needs – ARBAN, is a non-government entity duly established and registered with the NGO Affairs Bureau, Bangladesh (NGOAB Reg Number 3077). ARBAN is also registered under the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Department of Youth Development and the Technical Education Board.

MAJOR OBJECTIVES

■ To reduce triple illiteracy (general, information, ICT ) in the community 

■ To facilitate initiatives aiming for ICT for development (ICT4D). 

■ To initiate and promote awareness programmes for establishing human rights and good governance for deprived people of the society. 

■ To assist poor, landless, marginal farmers with low-income people especially women through savings and initiating productive IGA projects. 

■ To establish women and child rights, eradicate discrimination, protect against violence and support to stop child labor.

■ To facilitate Adibashi (indigenous) community for mainstreaming in the society, supporting cultural preservation and indigenous peoples’ rights.


Core Team

Syed Arifuzzaman

Executive Director

Arifuzzaman has many years of experience in the development sector. He has won several awards for his work, including Best Youth Organizer.  Previously, he held responsible positions at leading NGOs, including CARE Bangladesh.

Syed Zain Al-Mahmood

Program Director

Zain Mahmood has nearly 15 years of experience in research and communication for development in Bangladesh and broader South Asia. He has led multidisciplinary teams for international and national development organizations. Prior to that, he was an award-winning journalist for the Wall Street Journal and the Guardian.

Suhada Mehjabin

Program Officer

Shuhada Mehjabin is program officer at ARBAN, overseeing project implementation. She is also a researcher and journalist.

Mahfuzul Hasib

Operations Officer

Mahfuzul Hasib has experience in managing operations and logistics in humanitarian and communication focused interventions for national and international organizations.
