About Arban

Activity for Reformation of Basic Needs (ARBAN) is a pioneering civil society organization committed to socio-economic research and development across several districts of Bangladesh. Established in June 2002, ARBAN operates from its head office in Purbadhala of Netrokona District and primarily serving the north-central Mymensingh Division, an area characterized by hills, wetlands, and river islands, rich in natural diversity and cultural heritage. The region is home to a diverse population, including the ethnic Garo hill community and economically disadvantaged communities from the plains, Haor and Charland. In response to this context, ARBAN promotes AI-based and innovative interventions across key thematic areas such as education, skills and digital inclusion, governance and rights, health and nutrition, climate and disaster resilience, environment, agriculture and energy, livelihoods and entrepreneurship, child protection and women empowerment. Through these initiatives, ARBAN seeks to enable communities to overcome poverty, strengthen resilience, and achieve sustainable and dignified livelihoods. In essence, ARBAN contributes to fostering a knowledge-based, inclusive society at the grassroots level in Bangladesh.
