Activity for Reformation of Basic Needs-ARBAN is a Civil Society Organization involved in socio-economic research and development activities in Netrokona, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sylhet, Dhaka, Khulna, Bagerhat and Satkhira districts of Bangladesh. Having its Head Office at Purbadhala under Netrokona District, there is a Liaison office at capital city Dhaka. ARBAN started its journey in June 2002.
The greater Mymensingh region is located in the northwestern part of Bangladesh and is rich in diversity including canals, rivers, haors, beels and grasslands.Despite the fact that it is rich in natural beauty, agriculture and fish production, its own culture, language, tradition and the history of movement and struggle, the development of the quality of life of the inhabitants of this area is completely inadequate. To meet the challenges of the present century, to improve the socio-economic status and human qualities of the potential population of the region, to ensure the best use of talent and resources, to build a self-reliant and prosperous knowledge-based society, to fulfill the basic needs of citizens and to contribute to the establishment of good governance at all levels and with non-profit and voluntary characteristics, Activity for Reformation of Basic Needs-arban was established in 2002.
In order to survive in the competitive global reality and aim for sustainable development, arban has already established several sector-based institutions at the local level, among which are: arban Academy, arbanNariJagron, arban Cooperative Society, arban Craft, arban IT and Today's arban.
